You probably already know that 2022 is the 50th anniversary of the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Replica . Most intriguing to me, though, is the GMT display. With its Tapisserie dial, integrated bracelet and octagonal bezel, the Royal Oak is one of the most iconic styles of all watches produced over the past half century. Despite starting the steel revolution in luxury sports watches, Audemars Piguet did not shy away from precious metals and exclusive materials, including gold, platinum, titanium and ceramics. While this is by no means the first Royal Oak made of ceramic – not even the first Swiss Replica Audemars Piguet Royal Oak perpetual calendar made of ceramic – it is the first time Audemars Piguet has made a case and bracelet entirely in blue ceramic.

For this version, Audemars Piguet opted for a case diameter of 41mm, a thickness of 9.5mm and an impressive water resistance of 20 meters. In many ways, ceramic is an ideal material for watches because it is lightweight and resistant to scratches and wear. And, if you really know what you’re doing, it can produce a wide range of shades. However, this material is uncommon for good reason. Producing a ceramic watch is challenging; it involves heating a zirconium oxide (ZrO2) powder and a few secret ingredients to extremely high temperatures, then molding it, and finishing this notoriously difficult material by hand.

In this case, the result is a stunning blue hand-finished by Le Brassus artisans, offering the same satin brushed and polished chamfers that create the signature Audemars Piguet Replica Watches shimmer. While it’s easy to be drawn to the vibrant blue case and bracelet, we can’t forget that this is a perpetual calendar after all. Audemars Piguet has made sure the dial is as impressive as the case, using a colour-matched PVD blue hue on its Grande Tapisserie dial, sub-dial and inner bezel.

Applied indexes and faceted hands are 18k white gold and filled with luminous material. Three calendar dials and moon phases provide symmetry on the dial and provide the wearer with hour, minute, day, date, day of the week, month, astronomical moon and leap year information. The movement has 38 jewels, a 40-hour power reserve and a 19.8 bph skeleton rotor.

That is if you can manage to get one first.
